The Farm Safety Association (FSA) is a not-for-profit corporation established in 1973 and is a “designated entity” under the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act (WSIA). Its mission is to promote safe, healthy workplaces and lifestyles, and to eliminate all workplace injuries and illnesses in the province’s Agricultural Industrial Sector, which includes Agriculture, horticulture and landscaping.
FSA supports industry and government in developing standards, procedures and regulations to improve health and safety for the Agriculture Industrial Sector. FSA offers a broad range of print, video and digital products and services including training and consultation. Safe workplaces not only mean better health and quality of life for workers, they also mean more profitable business and lower premiums for employers.
With children and youth under 19 accounting for nearly 18 percent of all farm fatalities, the Farm Safety Association also encourages adults in the farming community to educate children who live in or near the farm workplace of the dangers.
