In 2010 Huron completed a number of community betterment projects. The first project that Huron took on was to sell ice cream and ice cream floats at local events throughout the summer. Members sold ice cream at Main Street Mayhem in Seaforth, Bayfield Fair and the Huron County Plowing Match. All of the funds raised were donated to the Clinton Salvation Army. The next project the club ran was a “Go for the Gold” competition, in conjunction with 4-H. Huron members organized, set-up and ran the competition which was enjoyed by 4-H members. Lastly, Huron members decided to clean up St. Christopher’s Beach in Goderich. On several occasions members walked the beach in search of garbage which they properly disposed of.
Huron Junior Farmer members are very involved in their community and have volunteered with many organizations including: Ag and Water Festival, the REACH Centre, Breath of Spring/The Lung Association, PC Caucus Rural Task Force, Kinburn Forresters, Plowmen’s Association, Music in the Fields, Seaforth Agricultural Society and Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority. |
